Annota terms of service

Annota is made by Papermap Labs, an independent studio in India. Using Annota, or buying Annota Pro, means you agree to these terms. They’re written to be read, so if anything is unclear, write to support@papermaplabs.com.

Annota, and Annota Pro

Annota is a browser extension for drawing on, highlighting and collecting from web pages and PDFs, and turning what you collect into notes. Its basic tools are free. Annota Pro is a paid subscription that adds worksheets and flashcards, the whiteboard, replay and lesson sharing.

While Annota is in beta, everything in it is free. Features may change during the beta as we learn what works, and we’ll say on this website when the beta ends.

Buying Annota Pro

Annota Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller (merchant of record). Lemon Squeezy takes the payment, charges any taxes that apply where you live, and sends your receipt and licence key. Their buyer terms apply to the purchase itself.

• Plans. Monthly, yearly, and a monthly plan for people in India. The price and what it includes are shown before you pay.
• Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it.
• Cancelling. Cancel anytime from the link in your receipt email. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then stops renewing.
• Price changes. If the price changes, we’ll email you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
• Refunds. See the refund policy.

Your licence

Your Annota Pro licence is for you. You can use it in up to two browsers at a time (for example, a school computer and a laptop), and move it to another by removing it from one of them in Annota. Please don’t share your licence key or resell it. We may turn off a key that’s been shared publicly, used by many people, or bought with a payment that was later reversed.

Your work

What you make with Annota is yours, and it stays in your browser on your computer (see the privacy policy). Because we never have a copy, we can’t recover it if it’s lost. Use Annota’s backups to keep it safe.

You’re responsible for how you use what you collect, including respecting the copyright of the pages and PDFs it comes from, and for using Annota lawfully.

No guarantees

We work hard to make Annota reliable, but it’s provided as it is, without warranties. Websites change, and some pages may not work with it. To the extent the law allows, Papermap Labs isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Annota Pro in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms. If a change matters to people who pay, we’ll email subscribers before it takes effect. You can stop using Annota at any time by removing it from your browser and cancelling any subscription.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Nothing in them takes away rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
